The Keg Cooler comes home

Unfortunately, it came home empty.

The Pike’s Brewery’s web site said they sell their beer in 5 gallon kegs, but when I actually talked to the brewer I learned that they only sell the 5 gallon keg to distributors.  They don’t sell it to individuals.  What a bummer.  I checked out Hale’s and Maritime and got the same response.  Elysian Fields wants a $100 deposit for their keg!  Crazy.  It’s typically about $32.

We just didn’t have time to hunt down a distributor in Seattle to see about buying a keg from them.  Hayden Distributors here in Boise will sell 5 gallon kegs to individuals.  I have a keg from them on tap right now.

Oh well.  It was a honorable try.  We’ll see what I can come up with for the next trip in May.
