Back In The USA

We are back in country. No delays or snafus so far on our return trip. We have about another hour left on this lay over and should be home around 11:30 pm.

We saw the final show of the Guitar Festival last night and in a daring move we took the bus back to the condo at 10:30 pm. I tell you, it’s a different world in Zih after dark. There were police and Federalis everywhere. They would go driving by in their little pickup ‘technicals‘ in groups of three with one guy manning the tripod mounted, belt-fed .30 cal. It was crazy. I’ve never seen that before.

We passed a group of three policia vehicles on a ‘stop’ and they were all spread out in a perimeter around their technicals. The guys without automatic weapons stood around with the handguns out. The only issue I had was they acted so lazy about it.

The final show had it’s own ‘It’s Mexico’ event, but that snafu fell square on the shoulders of the organizers. The stage wasn’t large enough and they oversold the event so they had to cut it in half. After the first show they asked everyone to leave an then re-did the show. Crazy.

We saw the first part, we got there early to have dinner, so we left and went over two blocks to Coconuts for the other bar show. We got there in time to watch the last hour of that show.

It was really outstanding.

I will get some more photos up over the next week and, hopefully, some videos. So check back when you can.

Glad you’re home and had a safe and uneventful trip home. It’s always nice to go on vacation but also nice to come home to a familiar place without police sporting automatic weapons after dark hours.
