Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Today is Memorial Day. I was trying to think of how to celebrate today on the blog but I don’t think you really can. At least I’m not a good enough writer to do so.
So I will just say this. Along with those who are present today, there have been millions who have volunteered (like my father) and millions who were drafted to serve in the military over the last few hundred years. Hundreds of thousands of them have been killed in combat defending this country, or just defending their comrades.
There is no way to remember all them here in writing, but I can remember one at least. I don’t know this person and never met him, but I read his story for the first time last year. His name is Cpl Jason L Dunham, USMC. This is the text of his Medal of Honor citation.
Hopefully everyone that reads this post remembers, honors really, a member of the military today as well. Be it someone they know, or not.
